Wiley F Nobles and Sarah Elizabeth James Cemetery in Nash county, NC

I had a new metal sign made for the cemetery. I also added my contact information to it as well. This cemetery is in the Cemetery Books of Nash county as the Thomas Franklin Nobles cemetery but it is actually the Wiley F Nobles and Sarah Elizabeth James cemetery. 

The house that was diagonally across from the cemetery has been burned down to the ground. What a waste of history. The farm corporation that owned the property and house decided it wasn't worth saving the house so they let it be burned down by the local fire department. So at least some good came from its destruction since the local fire department got to use it for training purposes.

 Portsmouth Island, NC is located 6 miles SW of Ocracoke village and is separated from Ocracoke Island by Ocracoke Inlet. How I Got Hooked On Genealogy

I have a class at Edgecombe Community College to blame for my getting totally hooked on doing genealogy. It was 2004 and I signed up for a local history/genealogy class with Monika Fleming, author of Edgecombe County: Along the Tar River . Part of the class was spent talking about Edgecombe County historyand the other part of the class was doing a genealogy project. I signed up for the class because I love history and it seemed interesting. I had heard that the professor, Monika Fleming, was a good professor to take history classes with, especially this class because she knew a lot about Edgecombe county and the town of Tarboro. When people think of genealogy sometimes they think about searching for old census records or newspaper articles. They think to look through cemeteries to find their ancestors, which are good ways to find information. However, genealogy starts with the living. Hello again readers. Today's posting is about ancestry.com. I have found ancestry to be valuable in getting a hold of death certificates and making connections with others who are researching the same family names. Using ancestry has helped me gather some information that I didn't have. However, you must still be careful with the information that is shared by others as it may not be completely accurate. For instance I had someone on ancestry try and tell me that a great great aunts maiden name was Gwaltney when it was indeed Parrish. She happened to marry another Parrish(not related) but when they were doing the research they were afraid someone might think they were related and so they had made up a last name for her. Yes I have found back in the 1800's that sometimes indeed cousins married each other. Whether they knew they were cousins or not, I do not know.
